Face frames cover plywood edges. The sample base and wall cabinets shown belowhave these features to make building them as simple as possible. Birch purebond plywood full sheets are best but 2 8 sheets would work as well hickory 2 4 purebond plywood panels birch purebond plywood full sheets are best but 2 8 2 4 or 4 4 sheets would work as well. Standard counter height is 36 with the cabinets usually being around 34 5 tall to allow room for the countertop material.

The main cabinet boxes themselves i built out of 2x4s an. Cabinets are also usually 34 5 tall allowing for a 36 overall height once the countertop material is added. Overlaps on the sides let you fine tune the cabinet width during installation. To calculate the size of wall or upper cabinets add 18 20 to the counter height.

Standard counter depth is 25 which the cabinets themselves being 24 to allow for a 1 countertop lip. The 3 4 plywood case eliminates panel jointing planing and glue ups. The kitchen cabinets turned into my own little project it was something i was equally stressed and terrified about and don t get me wrong they are not perfect but i m very happy with them.
